Spring Fever

Every year about this time, I get spring fever! The wheels in my head are turning and I have all these projects I want to do. I don't know if I would have started with this project but we did. My mom had several patio pavers in her garage and since we have always wanted a place for our patio table and chairs, we decided to use them to get started.

We have a section between our back door steps and our house, about 10x12 feet. So not huge, but big enough. We loaded up her pavers and then wandered over to lowes. We bought several more and came home. John rototilled up the dirt and layed the brick as even as he thought. Well, when he was done after we spent all day on it, it didn't turn out so even. And the next day, the bricks had buckled and one area had sunk! How depressing!
John's buddy stopped by and asked us if we layed sand under it... nope.. didn't know we were suppose to. So we had to start all over! This time, with a leveler too!

Day 2

Jared showed John how to lay the brick in the sand so it stayed together and level. Carson was there helping hammer down the bricks.

Day 3

It's finished! YAY! John did a great job laying it all and keeping it level!

We still have to lay sod down the side and flowers to finish it off, but the laying of the brick is all sealed and finished! Who knew there was a thing called polmeric sand that hardens up like cement when you get it wet to hold the bricks together?! Pretty cool stuff.

We added our new bbq grill that John got for fathers day and a pop up gazebo until we can build one overhead and we are grilling tonight!
